Call for Entries: 64th National Film Awards 2016

Entries are now open for the 64th National Film Awards 2016. The National Film Awards are presented in three categories: Feature Films, Non-Feature Films and Best Writing on Cinema.

Last date for submission of ON LINE applications is 16th January, 2017 and the last date for receipt of the hard copy of the submitted online application form along with the requisite documents is 21th January, 2017.

(Note: Both the application forms submitted by the applicants should be same).

47th International Film Festival of India 2016
(Nov 20th - 28th 2016)

The 47th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), was organized in Goa from 20th to 28th November 2016 jointly by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and Government of Goa.

The festival is focussed on screening of Indian and International films in addition to the master classes, work-shops, special sessions of professors and lecturers from the FTII to give the students an opportunity to learn from the masters.

EUROPEAN UNION FILM FESTIVAL
(30 July - 6 August 2016)
 

DFF in collaboration with the Delegation of the European Union to India is organsing a film festivals in Sirifort Auditoirium-2 from 30th July to 6th August 2016 in Sirifort Auditorium-II.

23 films will be screened during the EU Film Festival from 30th July to 6th August 2016.

The opening ceremony of the festival will at 5:30 p.m. on 30th July 2016 with the musical performance by Neemran Choir followed by the screening of famous Danish Film Silent Heart (Stille Hjerte) Directed by Bille August. The film premiered at the San Sebastián International Film Festival where it received a 20 minutes standing ovation. Bille August is a Danish Academy Award-winning film and television director. His film Pelle the Conquerorfrom 1987 won the Palme d'Or, Academy Award and Golden Globe. He is one of only eight directors to win the Palme d'Or twice, winning the prestigious award again in 1992 .

IRANIAN FILM FESTIVAL
(16-19 July 2016)
 

As part of cultural exchange programme, Directorate of film festivals in collaboration with Iran Cultural House, New Delhi is organising an Iranian film festival in Sirifort Auditoirium-2 from 16-19 July 2016 . 14 films will be screened during this Festival.

The opening ceremony of the festival will be held at 5:30 p.m. on 16th July in Sirifort Auditorium-2 where in Iranian Musical Group "Ronak" will perform the traditional music of Iran. Performance will be followed by the screening of the opening film of the festival CUBE OF SUGAR by Reza Mirkarimi.

The festival will also showcase the exhibition of Iranian art and handicraft.

63rd National Film Awards presented by the President of India at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 3rd May, 2016
 

The Hon’ble President, Shri Pranab Mukherjee conferred the National film awards for the year 2015 in various categories at the 63rd National Film Awards Function held at Vigyan Bhawan. Minister for Finance, Corporate Affairs, and Information & Broadcasting, Shri Arun Jaitley and MoS I&B Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion the President said that the Indian Films truly reflected the Indian character of Unity and Diversity. He complimented the composition of Award winners in the National Film Awards which included new comers as well as legends of Indian cinema. He said that the National Film Awards this year reflected all aspects of cinema including digitization and technology.
